ISRA (Integrated Shark and Ray Assessment) – A Collaborative Effort for Ocean Conservation 🌊

We are excited to share the successful development of the latest factsheet for the 2024 ISRA Region 9 – Asia Workshop, a product of dedicated teamwork and collaboration across various organizations committed to ocean conservation. This initiative is a crucial step toward advancing the protection and understanding of sharks and rays in the Asia-Pacific region.

Special thanks to Ilham Fajri (Syiah Kuala University), Muhammad Azis, Kusuma Banda Naira, Romi Andrian, and Herman (Kebersamaan Untuk Lautan), Benaya Meitasari Simeon (Charles Darwin University), Fahmi (National Research and Innovation Agency), and Ryan Charles (IUCN SSC Shark Specialist Group – ISRA Project) for their invaluable contributions. Their expertise and commitment to this project have helped consolidate essential data and insights that will guide future conservation actions.

The ISRA Project aims to build stronger scientific foundations for the conservation of marine species, ensuring sustainable management practices for sharks and rays. This factsheet is just one of many outcomes of the ongoing efforts within the ISRA framework.

We also extend our gratitude to all participants of the 2024 ISRA Region 9 – Asia Workshop, whose input and collaboration were crucial to this achievement. Together, we continue to strive toward healthier oceans and more sustainable ecosystems.
